I woke up tired

Monday, April 30, 2012

It is never a good thing to wake up and feel tired, but even worse if you are a morning person.  This morning was not very different from every other morning.  I woke up early with David, but after kissing him goodbye, I wanted nothing more than to climb back into my unmade bed.  The house was dark and quiet, the little nuts were sleeping, and I had zero energy, yes, me, morning person, felt beat.  I stood at the dryer pulling out clothes while contemplating my next move {bed or no}, and lifted up a simple prayer for help and strength and energy.  Guess what I read moments later in the devotional, Jesus Calling?

April 30th
When some basic need is lacking- time, energy, money- consider yourself blessed.  Your very lack is an opportunity to latch onto Me in unashamed dependence.  When you begin a day with inadequate resources, you must concentrate your efforts on the present moment.  This is where you are meant to live- in the present; it is the place where I always await you.  Awareness of your inadequacy is a rich blessing, training you to rely wholeheartedly on Me.
The truth is that self-sufficiency is a myth perpetuated by pride and temporary success.  Health and wealth can disappear instantly, as can life itself.  Rejoice in your insufficiency, knowing that My Power is made perfect in weakness.
James 1:2;2 Corinthians 12:9

God absolutely met me right where I was at, and showed me His power and love in my weakness as I depended on Him.  What seemed like a daunting list of things to do today has quickly vanished without a struggle.  I know this may seem like no big deal- I do encounter trails more sizable than waking up tired for heavens sake!, but it was the difference between a smooth/blessed day or a battle, and He gave me more than another 30 minutes of rest ever could!
May we remember to call upon His name and depend upon Him moment by moment!  I love you, Jesus!!

Aunt Kitty

Sunday, April 29, 2012

My Great Aunt Kitty passed away last month and I wanted a copy of this video saved on the blog.  She was like a Grandma and was treated/seated as such at all my siblings and my wedding {she and Uncle Lolo came down the isle right after my grandparents}.  Aunt Kitty made us each feel like we were her favorite and loved us so deeply!  She was a beauty, smart as a whip, talented at handiwork and entertaining, had an astonishing testimony, and love for Jesus.  We miss you, oh we miss you, but after a very well-lived life, you are home!!

Hash brown Casserole

Friday, April 27, 2012

If you are looking for an easy, satisfying go-to breakfast for crowds or to make ahead, this is a great recipe!  My Mom would make this for breakfast clubs, early morning meetings, and everyone always loves it!

Ingredients:
frozen shredded hash browns
cream cheese
cheddar cheese
diced green chilies {optional}
bacon {optional}
diced red, green peppers {optional}
salt and pepper

Directions:
Spray 9x13 pan or whatever size dish you want to make with cooking spray.  Layer hash browns, cheddar cheese, cream cheese  {drop dollops of cream cheese}.  You can also add diced green chilies, crumbled bacon, peppers.  Be sure to salt and pepper as you go.

Bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes or until browned.

You can make ahead and freeze!  It makes breakfast so easy when I put one of these together ahead of time and just cook some eggs to go with!
Serve with ketchup or salsa and fresh fruit.  Enjoy!

Snapshots

Happy Tuesday Morning y'all!  Here are some pictures I've snapped since my last post!

~Jules watching~

I had to trim baby girl's mullet for the 2nd time, which was pretty sad when she hardly has any, but my Mom and sis insisted!:)  It does look much better now.  The little man decided he needed a trim and hacked his bangs off by himself...ahh!  If only they could share some hair!

~My pregnant belly~
I've never taken pregnancy tummy shots and don't plan on doing it now, but I am shocked at how fast I am showing this time.  My doc says your ligaments just know what to do, so you show much sooner?  I am just barely out of my first trimester and already showing- hello fourth baby tummy {and Jules in the corner}!
~Olivia and Buck playing~

We went to Bend last weekend to visit our new little niece!  Welcome baby Clara and congratulations, Evan and Elisa!  She is so, so beautiful!!!

We also got in some sightseeing on our trip.  David and I were dating the last time we visited the High Desert Museum!  The kids loved all the animals and sights, especially since we just started reading Little House on the Prairie.
Then...
Now...
Thank you for taking these pictures, Liza and joining us on the trip!

We finished out the weekend eating sushi to celebrate Daddy's birthday.  Happy 33rd Birthday, David!  I love you more than I love sushi!!
Yesterday was beautiful and HOT so we played outside the whole day!

Easter Happenings

Tuesday, April 10, 2012

picture with cousin Caedmon after church- the older two trying to keep the younger two from falling down the bark dust hill :-)

I'm sitting down to type this post about Easter with a full and grateful heart for all Christ has done for me; where would I be without His redeeming love and grace?  We heard so many testimonies on Sunday of how lives have been transformed by God's great love, and it moved me to hear how God has shown his love to others and remember all the ways he has shown that same love to me.  I don't deserve to be so blessed, but He has lavished me with love anyway!  I love you, Lord!!
Our little nuts are constantly growing and changing, and not just their pant sizes.  I love having the blog to capture some of it.  Please excuse me as I get mushy-gushy over them before diving into Easter.
Peyton has discovered he likes coffee and he even likes it black.  I gave him the teeniest amount, but he wanted to drink it  a l l  !  The first thing he does in the mornings after running and giving hugs is back up to the wood stove {he'll even head downstairs to park in front of that fire if we don't have one upstairs}.  He is such a delight and has matured so much.  If he "hears" me being sick, he runs from wherever he is to ask if I'm,  "OK".  He tells me all throughout the day and at the most unexpected times that he loves me{like over his shoulder as he's running ahead of me on a walk}.  He loves to snuggle and tell me stories.  He is fascinated right now with dishwashers and pipes and where our water comes from and how it gets there, etc.!  A simple answer is not what he's looking for.  We get down and look and explain, and then Daddy explains some more!
He picked up some dirt on our walk and was telling me, "this is what Grampy and Daddy do in the fields."
I guess if you can make a mud ball with the dirt and it doesn't break when you throw it against your boot or something hard, the ground is too wet to farm.
He pays attention and says he's "learnin' from them".
He's been itching to climb trees.

My sweet firstborn.  Before acquiring a few animals she was very timid around them, but not anymore.  She is the first one to want to do barn chores, and goes out to feed Buck every morning, and often doesn't come back!  I'll look out and see her running around with Buck chasing behind, then a little while later she is yelling and jumping up and down for me to come out and look at all the geese.  I love her appreciation for nature and life  She says she and Sugar are best friends and cares for her so thoughtfully.  She leads her around with such confidence!  Oh, and what a heart for prayer.  She was the one coming in to tuck me in when I've been so sick and to pray for me!  I love to hear her pray and what a help and blessing she is.  She brought in a rock for me yesterday that she found while digging in the garden, and was SO excited.  She said to think of her when I see it and how hard she has worked while I've been sick.  **Insert BIG SMILE!**
We had two double strollers to push today and she pushed the second stroller faster than an adult up the hills and on the flat to help my Mom.  Sweet, sweet girl!
Julia, Julia.  She has really gone from a baby to a big girl.  Hey, and no bruised forehead for a while!  There is no word she won't try to say and she constantly has us laughing.  Her first sentence was, "Buck go?".  She is quick to give a hug and say sorry if she gets rough while playing.  She can hold her own, too, don't let that sweet smile fool you!  She always wants to be in on the action whether it is brushing the horse, helping with laundry, running to keep up with the kids, she is there.  I know we are going to have a lot of fun this summer!

The little nuts started off the Easter weekend opening up some treats from Grampy and Nana.
They were over the moon for the horses!
Here are some of the decorations my sister and I used for our church

Easter Egg Hunt at Church

We soaked up the most beautiful weather over the weekend.  We do not always enjoy warm weather for Easter {ahem}, but this year was spectacular!
Olivia was teaching Julia how to "pick flowers for Mama" when we got home from the hunt.

Good times at the Easter carnival...
We had new boots waiting for them on Easter morning.
Peyton thought the candy-filled boots were hilarious!
It wasn't very "Eastery", but both SweetP and I were really craving french toast with lots of peanut butter for breakfast!
After church we went to my brother, Zach, and sis-in-law, Erin's for lunch.  We had a wonderful time!
  Julia loved this egg.
Another hunt...
A long post... sorry, but I tried to warn you.  Luvs!
