Gordon John

May 22nd, 1924- July 6th, 2010

Oh, Papa!  We miss you, but we are so happy for you too!
You are one of the most remarkable men of all time!  You were better than a fairytale Grandpa (if such thing exists).  Thank you for showing us how to love Jesus and to live a life devoted to Christ.  I loved how you loved us- you welcomed me into the family and made me feel so special from the very beginning.  I miss you calling Olivia, "sweet girl".  Your wit and your sparkle and your gentleness were such a gift!  You made an enormous impact on my husband- thank you!  He loves you so much!
We love you, Papa!
Please, please give Grammy a kiss for us!

David and I both cried when we heard this song this week.  It is perfect.  You are free!

  1. Rachel, I am so sorry for your loss and so happy for your gain! Its times like this were I find that my heart separates from the world a little bit more and connects to heaven a little bit more.

  2. Oh dear Rachel & David,

Gordan was such a wonderful grandpa to so many...including me! I still remember staying at their house when I was just a child. Such a giver and blessing to so many. May the comfort of the Holy Spirit be with you and your family during this time! Love you both!!

  3. Thanks for posting this beautiful tribute Rachel. I was in awe of God's timing in all of this. He orchestrates things so beautifully.

  5. "Some glad morning, when this life is over
    I'll fly away... "

Free indeed! I wish I could have seen the reunion he had with his sweet lady.
You can be sure he heard the words, "Well Done, my good and faithful servant!"
    He was greatly loved.
