To: Julia Bright Love: Louisa Bright

Sunday, October 3, 2010

Julia received a very special treasure from one of her namesakes, Louisia Bright.  My Popum and Nanny gave her Louisia Bright's sewing machine from the 1800s.  It still works!

I love family traditions and heirlooms.
Olivia will be the proud owner of this family heirloom (picture taken last year).

The doll was a gift to my great, great grandmother, Letha Maud (born in 1885 in Nebraska) when she was six years old.  She is dressed for the cold mid-western winter with a red wool slip.

The doll is passed down to the first born daughter whose middle name starts with M; Olivia Marie is the 6th generation.
Letha Maud, Thelma May, Juanita May, Julianne Marie, Rachel May, and Olivia Marie

There are many other keepsakes in the family, but these are just two that have special meaning for my daughters!  Thank you, Popum and Nanny!
